We honor the legacy of Catholic education in Lebanon County, by placing this new school under the patronage of Mary, our Mother, under the title of Our Lady of the Cross. Beginning with her yes to the Father’s request through the Angel Gabriel, Mary willingly gave witness to the Son of God throughout His life even to the foot of the Cross. Her faithful witness was rewarded, and Jesus named her as our Mother and us as her children, before crowning her Queen of Heaven. The long Marian tradition of Catholic schools in Lebanon includes St. Mary’s, Our Lady of the Valley, and Lebanon Catholic built on Assumption Hill.
Our colors are navy and white, accented by a light blue in honor of Our Lady’s protective mantle and the tradition of schools in Lebanon County.
Our crest includes the twelve stars envisioned by John in Revelation as symbols of Our Lady’s crown.
The words, “Faith Reason Witness” reflect our vision statement, and are symbolized respectively by the crucifix, book, and globe.
The crucifix is fixed as the central image, symbolizing Jesus Christ as the center and focus of our school.
The “M” for Mary, is positioned at the foot of the crucifix as Our Lady stood at the foot of the Cross.
The open book represents our commitment to academics and learning in the search for Truth through reason.
The globe represents that all members of the school are called to give witness to the world with our lives.
The crossed keys as pictured on the Vatican flag, are the Keys of Heaven given by Jesus to St. Peter (Matthew 16:19), and represent our faithful adherence to the teaching authority of the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
The cedar tree reflects our mission to bring faithful education to the students and families of Lebanon County.
The “LC” represents both our current name and the legacy of the former community from whom we were formed.
Our motto affirms that both faith and reason are necessary for students to strive for the fullness of truth, which will inform their freedom, lead to just actions, and allow them the tools to transform the culture through the practice of faith and their witness to Christ.
